Good Sleepy’s long-awaited sophomore album has arrived! The emo band out of Central Massachusetts has released CONSTANT HUMMING, a collection of 14 tracks that dive headfirst into themes of navigating early adulthood, unpacking fractured relationships, spiritual uncertainty, and the push and pull between progress and falling back into old habits. Across the record, themes of nostalgia, emotional buildup, and the persistent weight of unspoken thoughts take center stage — what vocalist Thomas Sullivan describes as “a constant humming in the back of my mind.”
Among the album’s highlights is “745,” a track that embodies the emotional core of the project.
“Writing and recording this song came so naturally and felt so right, which doesn’t always happen. It’s a song that’s close to home for us, and the band’s favorite of the record,” shared Thomas Sullivan, lead singer of Good Sleepy.
CONSTANT HUMMING arrives as the follow-up to the band’s 2021 debut LP, everysinglelittlebit, released via No Sleep Records. That project was produced by Chris Freeman of Hot Mulligan and Gary Cioni of Crime in Stereo. While the debut leaned into ambient textures layered over Midwest emo influences, the new album sharpens and solidifies Good Sleepy’s evolving sound — “raw, dynamic, and emotionally resonant.”
“This album has meant everything to us over the last few years spent writing and recording. There’s a feeling of letting go of some the weight of it all now that it’s finally time for it to come out. We’ve poured our best creative and emotional energy into this album, growing a lot while we’ve worked on it. We want to thank all of our friends, family, and of course, everyone who was involved in the production and release. We are lucky to have you all, and always grateful,” Sullivan added.
Self-recorded over four years in the quiet mountains of Central Massachusetts, the album was co-produced alongside Boston-based producer Charlie Burket, known for his work with Ringpop! and Park National. The project marks the first time since high school that the four members have reunited to create a fully realized, cohesive body of work together.
